The reason the government should not do anything is mostly and effectively stated in the very last sentence of this article.
"Reporters and markets eagerly awaited the announcement, which came eight minutes late due to a paper jam in a government copy machine."
Any government is inefficient. It has to be. It is made up of humans who are inherently imperfect beings. The Second Law of Thermodynamics also essentially states that things breakdown. Compound that with stupid humans trying to tell other humans what to do, you have a huge meltdown. Government is inefficient in everything it does. Even the military is inefficient. It took us ten years to kill the on evil man we set out for revenge against. It takes years to build a stinkin' road. It takes trillions of dollars to stimulate an economy to find out it doesn't work that way. But it only took us two hundred and thirty-five years to go from the amount of power the Federal government had to the power it holds against us now.
The Postal Service loses billions of dollars a year and we expect them to be able to educate our children cheaply and effectively. That's insane, it is laughable, it is ludicrous. There is so much dependency on the government though. Too many people believe that they can't do anything on their own without the government's help. there are few that know there are alternatives. Cheaper, better, more efficient, the private sector, the economy can help itself out. There are better results to economic stimulation when the government does nothing. It is a shame that there isn't much data to support this claim because whenever there is a slight "problem" in our country, the government, along with the media's help, create a crisis and take the opportunity to seize more power for themselves. A majority of people in the United States are willing to give up freedoms and liberties for security and bliss. Anybody that is willing to sacrifice those precious, inalienable rights deserves neither liberty and freedom nor safety and security. The nation needs to wake up and do some things on their own. Government should be the last resort after family and then friends.
We need to be more community oriented. We are too nationally oriented. Nationally ain't rationally and community is unity.
